Google Keywords, Key Ways to Earn With Adsense

By

Do Keywords Pay?

The simple answer to that is both yes and no. I know, that isn't the black and white answer that you wanted, but it is the truth. To a large degree, it depends on how you approach keywords. There are two popular ways of doing this, one is to find a niche keyword (a keyword that is searched for, but that does not have much competition) to write an article on. Alternatively people will write articles and then try to incorporate keywords.

Personally, I like to do a bit of both. I don't want to write about things that do not interest me, but I do want to attract that lovely search engine traffic. To be cost effective, you don't want to waste hours finding keywords, unless of course they will pay you back well for those hours spent searching. I like to choose a subject, and then search a few keywords. The best way to do this is to think about what exactly you would try searching for on that subject. Enter this into the Google Keyword Tool and bingo the keyword tool, it will give you suggestions for keywords to use.

Obviously the established keyword elite will get the bulk of traffic for even a low competition search, but if you can get a small percent of 4000 searches per month, you can drive daily traffic to your hubs. Some choose to use a keyword list of the 'most searched keywords', but I don't recommend doing this. My reason is that keywords and their competition is constantly changing! Hence, what may be low competition one day can be highly competitive a few weeks later.

However, one way you can help search engines to relate to your chosen keywords is to put them in bold as I I here (please don't just copy them all). This will help search engines work out what your article is about and which as the important terms used. Although the traffic I am likely to get from such a competitive topic is low, I hope that by choosing some lower competition words I might get a little of it. Of course, if you can find a lower and less competitive topic (often referred to as a niche and highly specific), then you could theoretically grab a large percentage of that traffic.

Keyword Inspired Hub

As a test of keyword power, although I can't be bothered to do it all of the time, I looked for a searched keyword to inspire a hub and then found 3 connected keywords. This hub I published a while ago, but it has actually received consistent traffic EVERYDAY since it was discovered by search engines. Hence, although it is a lot of work, I believe that researching keywords for at least some of your hubs is worth your time, as those hubs will bring in fresh readers for many of your other hubs (assuming that you add links at the bottom).

Another great hub, and a subject I am very familiar with. It's all about variety, now more than ever following recent algorithm changes by the almighty G. It is all about variety and making sure that your keywords fit naturally and are not forced into the text, no problem for all good writers though.

I didn't know that bolding words helped them to get identified as key words! That's helpful to know. You are kind of like my online blogging instructor. Thanks Professor T! :-) SHARING.

Thanks for sharing this information. I plan to use your advice on bolding and ensuring keywords are in capsules. Voted up and useful!

Yes I agree that Keywords are very important for the online writer. But oh it can be very tiring too.

But like a few people have said here there is no point in spending your time writing great articles, poetry or fiction if no one can find your work!

I do not like it but as a freelance writer it is part of the job

Thanks for SHARING. Voted up and useful

Great information. I can use this to drive more traffic.

UGH.... I am horrible about keyword research... I just like to write. Catch 22... you can write until your blue in the face but unless you do that keyword search (at least a little bit) eventually your writing will be lost like a piece sitting in a notebook. Very useful information and like always Thanks for Sharing!

Hey all, thanks for your comments. The tool takes a little getting used to, but it is definitely worth a few minutes of your time to draw in more readers.

Interesting! I am pretty SEO/keyword illiterate, but the tools you mention here provide a nice starting point. Of course, if I had oodles of time it would also help . . . meanwhile it's just fun to publish articles and hope someone eventually finds them. Thanks for this article! And thanks for SHARING.

Another useful hub, thank you Brett....I think I'm getting the hang of playing around with Googles keyword tool - slowly.

A good hub that I will share!!

Stephanie Henkel 3 months ago

Good advice! I do use the keyword tool, and I think it is helping me generate more traffic. I have gone back to some of my older hubs and put keywords into the capsule headers. As we learn more about SEO and keywords, tweaking our hubs does help.

Thanks for SHARING.

Thank you for your comments, I am pleased it was useful. Some of this technical stuff can be baffling, that is why I always try to explain things in a normal and chatty way ... without all the jargon!

Yes I know a great deal about them Keyword monsters, search engines eat em up for breakfast, LOL.

I may be getting better but I find trying to use particular words can be inhibiting as a writer.

sholland10 3 months ago

I try to do both too because I love writing. I have gone through and revised hubs with appropriate keywords. I try to stay in the low to medium range when using keywords. Great advice! I did not know bolding the word would help.

Thanks for SHARING!!

I've searched the keyword tool but don't always use those words. I do like your suggestion about putting words in bold, never knew that made a difference. Voted up and useful.

This is a valuable and very useful information. Keywords and SEO is something i am still trying to learn about. Using keyword in the title helps as well the Google Keyword tool is quite useful in this regard. I really liked the idea of using keywords in bold.

I am Voting it up and useful. Thank you for SHARING !!!

Melovy 4 months ago

I found this interesting because I find using keywords a bit of a mystery even after 7 months on Hubpages. I didn’t know that putting keywords in bold helped them be found, though I have read it’s a good idea to put them in subtitles, which are of course in bold.

Thanks for SHARING.

Very good advice, thank you! Although I am familiar with keyword searches and usage, I did not know about bolding the word.phrase. Thank you for SHARING.

rajan jolly -

Using the keyword in the title is a very good technique! Search engines are getting much smarter now, and so long as you use some low competition keywords in the subject, they will surely send some traffic your way. However don't expect immediate results, sometimes it may take 3 to 6 months for your hubs to rate well in search engines.

Samsons1 -

A Merry Christmas to you too. I hope that you like the software, as it will make writing your hubs much easier. I do however recommend that you do the training, which basically involves reading a short story to the computer. This may take 45 min of your time, but if you do this, the accuracy will greatly increase.

This particular hub was written at work, so Dragon NaturallySpeaking was not used. However, I am writing this comment using the software. For me it makes writing at home much easier, but speaking to the computer in an office full of people may look a bit strange lol.

Hi Molometer,

Glad you thought it was a good guide, hope it helps. Cheers for the votes too! Appreciated, they all help.

rajan jolly 4 months ago

Nice handy information. I normally like to write a topic first and then look for low competition keywords for that topic. Also I try to use the keyword in the title.

I'd like to try putting the keywords in bold if that would help.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful info.

Voted up and useful.
