How to blog better using Hub pages at Hubpages.com. Are there more advantages of writing on Hubpages than a blog?

Why Hubpages is Better
From the title, you can already tell my stand on this. However, let me give you a little more information. I have tried other blogs, and although many allow you to connect and to earn through Adsense, most lack a real community feel.
However, writing on Hubpages is very inspiring and very different. The people here are mainly very positive, give great feedback, suggestions and make comments daily. It takes a little while to settle in, but before long you will start to gather followers and regular readers with a little effort on your part. However, if you are interested in getting involved fully, participating in forums, asking and answering questions and giving good/constructive feedback to hubs will be more fun, help you to build up your numbers faster and also help you find people that are interesting to follow.
I think that is the great thing about this site, it is all about the give and take. This is not the site for people to post random short updates of their life (although, there is a feature for this too). Hubs (blogs) should be well written, informative and of a reasonable length. So long as they are good quality and interesting, you will surely enjoy the feedback and interaction that you receive here! The added Google Adsense, or Hubpages Ad Program, are just a nice extra sprinklings on top of an already very tasty cake.
The system is incredible and even the most novice of users should be able to create stylish hubs (blogs) that include text, photos, links, Adsense adverts, Amazon Ads, videos and far more - in a matter of minutes. the system is setup with ready-made capsules for all of these, so you can just add, drag and drop them to where you want them. This is all then combined with hubscores and your own hubber score. These rank you hubs and are assessed with complex formulas, but basically when you hit 75 for a hub score, any of your links (like the ones below) instantly become 'do-follow Backlinks', which are the BEST kind to impress search engines! Your hubber-score also assesses you as an overall 'player' within and outside of Hubpages ... the higher this score is, the better it is for you (as it is your rank) and the prouder you will surely feel!
Hubpages also now has a new system in place, where each writer gets their very own URL. This is excellent news, as it means you will be judged as an individual by search engines (not dragged down by anyone producing poor quality content). So long as you produce reasonable (but, preferably excellent) quality content, it should result in you gaining a regular flow of organic search engine traffic - your other external readers. If you are new here, or just changing over to the NEW Hubpages URL system, then don't forget to submit your URL to search engines and also create lots of Backlinks.
A few hubs to help you get this done faster are:
Submit your Blog to Search Engines - Get More Readers!
Why not Big Up your Blog? Create some Backlinks!
Boost your Website/Blog - Create some Backlinks Daily

vow good one, VERY USEFUL .SHARED
Great Hub as always Brett. I have the same question as BarberGirl28 about which of the Hubscores activates the "do follow" feature. Is it our overall profile Hubscore or the score of the individual Hub? Most of my Hubs start out with a low score, but they slowly edge upwards. My profile score stays around the low 90's mark. So I am wondering which score will endear me to Google with the "do follow" feature?
Also, IMO, hubs aren't really ideal for blogs. I had a blog a few months ago that did quite well for a 2 1/2 years, but there's nothing on it that would feel like a good fit for HubPages. That alone tells me that there's a difference between personal blogging and HubPages. I want my Hubpages to be informative, not full of TMI. Cheers - Sarah
I love HP because of being published unique story daily . I personally think if you are active in HP then you can cross 75 score withing 2 or 3 days and get do follow link .
I agree. There are numerous advantages of writing on hubpages. However, a writer should also own his/her own blog, in order to have a completely different experience.
Given said that, hubpages has no parallel, and it has been my prime choice of submitting contents on.
Thank you so much for this informative hub! I hadn't realized that we now have our own urls and I am still not sure how to take advantage of that.
Something jumped out at me right away.... you mentioned that if your hub gets a score or 75, that is when the links become active. I thought that was only true if your personal hubber score was above 75. Or maybe I misunderstood it. Or is it just that once it hits 75 you get better traffic?
Anyway, interesting take on this topic. This topic is actual fuel for fights around her. As many people believe hubpages is not a blog. However, while they do strive for it to be original and useful content, for some cases it is a different type of blog. I did an entire series of my journey with P90X. Now it did have some information in there that wasn't just a daily update on what I did... but technically, some people would actually consider that bloggy and think it should not be placed on Hubpages.
I am kind of on the fence about this. I feel any opinion type piece not backed up by good sources is technically bloggy. As I have been around for awhile, I have seen these go both ways and obviously the more time and effort and valuable content put into the hub, the better the score, regardless of whether it is blog type material or article type material.
Another great hub as well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am curious as to how many people will react to this as I have heard the fight back and forth that Hupbages is not a blog.
A big advantage of writing for HubPages is that hubs rank higher more quickly at Google than with other sites. I've had hubs come up to page one or two within a couple of weeks at HP, and I have older webpages at other sites that never appear on Google. Voting this Up and Useful and SHARED.
I love hubpages because I can write content for my dance class to reference. I have turned this into away to connect with my dancers online. I will be adding video too.
I like writing here because it gives me flexibility to create the hub any way I like it. Also, the community is excellent. This is my favorite place to write. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Brett another great hub. I agree with you about the give and take aspect of hubpages. In my experience hubpages is unique.
The only other really useful site that I can recall where the members were this helpful was way back in the 1980's in the very early days of the internet on JANET the Joint Academic Network before HTML and email was invented. JANET was built on top of the architecture of ARPANET the first internet (built by the US military)
As mentioned earlier JANET was used by academics as a forum to discuss various topics and the nature of those discussions were the pursuit of answers and not for profit or the childish interactions as seen on Facebook et al. Fortunately hubpages requires effort on the part of the contributors and therefore we don't tend to see one liner type responses. Sorry for the short history lesson @philplasma(I'll create a hub for the full story)
By the way Brett I forwarded your details to my daughter re the tesol information you have available. Thanks
Voted up and interesting Brett. In the short time I have been on these pages I have enjoyed the atmosphere on hub pages and the community. I agree with you, the "give and take" and the need to really plot out and think hard about the hubs to post are the key attractions. It is such a positive and encouraging experience. I did the new URL thing per your advice and guidance, thanks!
I agree with you, Brett. I like the community here. Most hubbers are helpful and friendly. Voted up.:)
Plus, who doesn't like the awesome layout and the powerful word software to write the hubs. The interactive maps, rss, easy to use Amazon - eBay capsules, all are plus for HubPages.
Supporting you here too!
If I publish a blog post, it would take me months to reach 5 regular visitors and in HubPages.... do I have to say more? LOL!! Voting up, up and Up and useful work!
True, I see your point, I simply disagree with those businesses that use a blog as their medium for sales.
voted up and useful! Very well written my friend and I'm glad to hear you are doing so well...
I consider blogs as for purely personal updates and information. Like: my cat's claws were cut last Tuesday.
Hubs, on the other hand, are there to provide information or advice to the reader. They have a purpose.
So because they are two different things, I don't think of comparing them as you have in this hub.

Hey Brett, this is a great Hub and you sell the benefits of using Hubpages very well. I make my income from adsense on my own websites and have only really just found the true value of posting here and trying to get involved with the community. I don't put my own adverts on hubs a I am more than happy for them to make anything they can from my work in order to keep the site going. I will definitely be reading more of your hubs as it sounds like you know your stuff and I am always looking to learn more. Thank you for sharing. Steve
