Living in Thailand - Lazy Beach Days
72
After living in Thailand for many years, traveling and touring was something I hadn't done for a while. I loved living there and the laid back nature, but became so laid back that I hardly left the town I had been working in, just running on the beaches and seeing friends was good enough. However, this last year I have been over in South Korea and the long holidays gave me the perfect opportunity to get back to Thailand and tour some of the more rural areas.
Thailand beaches near Bangkok are pretty much limited to those of major tourist areas like Pattaya. However, if you take the time to travel a few hours south of the city, you can discover some rural seaside towns that are absolutely stunning and a fraction of the price for resorts and food!
Of course, while talking about these beaches, it does help if you can see where I am talking about. Hence, there are some pictures of Thailand beaches that I visited on the right. They are from areas where prices are low, but quality is high and after a few weeks in the area I can say that I felt incredibly relaxed.
This particular area is called Bansapan and is in the central section of the southern strip of Thailand, an area that is about four hours south of Bangkok. It is often secluded from bad weather and seems to get a lot of glorious sunshine. The other benefit is that due to very few tourists being in the area, you will be greeted with very friendly smiles and a fun curiosity. The people were amazingly welcoming and that only helped to make the scenery and location ideal.
So, the next time you are looking for a beach near Bangkok, consider a few hours in a mini-van (only about 4GBP) to the stunning beaches a bit further south.

Your article fits right in on my facebook fan page. It has been at the top since put there. It will move down once a friend returns from the Philippines. His pictures will go there then. Social media marketing requires sharing things of value with the readers. I will try to talk him into writing a hub to share them also.
This hub really got my traveling bug swirling! I am going to see how I can make this trip asap!
For some reason sharing this was blocked. I took the URL and put this article on my facebook fan page.
Beautiful beaches, I was surprised the grass grows so close to the ocean. I have been to beaches on each coast of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico and never saw grass growing so close to the water. In places on cliffs about 50 ft above the water they have green but for the most part about 50 ft of sand.
I will never make it to Thailand but have enjoyed seeing pictures from a lot of the country. I have met people who lived with the people in the northern part and a couple who are missionaries to the area.
When I tried to go to Korea things got messed up and I never made it. I would have loved to see that part of the world when I was able.
The beaches look gorgeous. I have a friend who spends about three months of the year over there every year (lucky devil). I must try to visit Thailand soon.

Well written and enticing to say the least. Wish I'd had opportunity to see more of that country than Uncle Sam allowed during Viet Nam conflict. Was stationed in Guam for eighteen months during '67 & '68, another place with beautiful beaches and friendly people. Voted up and beautiful...

Thank you for all your comments. There really are some incredible and natural beaches in Asia, as they are untouched, unlike many western coast lines.
