Institutionalized learning has slowly been adapted to suit the needs of everyone seeking learning facilities, regardless of where they are located in the world. For many, the dream to gain admission to prestigious universities in order to obtain a high level degree is just that unfortunately; a dream! The sheer expense of these places, high requirements and serious competition for a place makes them unachievable for many. However, fortunately more and more courses are now becoming available online, resulting in far more people being able to pursue their educational goals without any trouble at all. In fact, very soon, international education may all focus on elearning, as it is more convenient and cost effective that the tradition education system.

There are quite a number of benefits to be gained from choosing to join an online learning center. Perhaps, the greatest of all these benefit in terms of international leaning is its convenience for the teachers and students. Elearning allows for students to access coursework and relevant course materials at any time, regardless of where they are located. Moreover, they can access this information from any computer, or even a smart phone.

Another noteworthy benefit of elearning is the focus given to the student while studying. Elearning allows for more time to be spent tutoring the student on sections of the coursework which may seem particularly difficult. This can be seen as more of a personal tuition scenario when compared to the huge lectures, as any questions raised by the student are promptly answered by their instructor. This is also advantageous in that the course load does not negatively impact with the student’s workload, as well as any business or personal commitments that they might be having, as studies can be fit in around almost any schedule.

Currently, a number of international universities have began to take up the task to ensure that their course work for each and every course is available on the internet. Many are even providing courses for free, although you will have to pay in order to actually receive the qualification. Moreover, lecturers and professors have long embracing the internet’s potential in the dissemination of information that is relevant to their students. Thus, those who choose elearning will have regularly updated coursework and the latest information to hand.

Elearning also has the added benefit of responsive communications, especially between the lecturer and the student. Education needs need to be satisfactorily met and any concerns noted by the student regarding their coursework and its relevance to the degree that they are pursuing can be readily addressed. This can be done via live text chat, conferences, Skype, email and other electronic communication methods, giving the student an option for any time of the day.

For UK or US citizens, elearning can also produce other great bennefits when you look at universities outside of your own country. Most universities are desperate for international students, as the funding for universities has increased and they also like to show a certain level of diversification within their student bodies. This means that although you may pay more than a local student, you will often get extremely good service and feel very welcome. Add to this that in many countries, you can actually get a Masters Degree for just 2000-4000GBP (around 3500+ USD), it can also make obtaining your degree more affordable.

However, when dealing with international universities it is important to check out their accreditation. While for some countries this can be done via a national database, others do not have this available. In this situation, a good way is to email a local (in your country) university and ask if they can transfer credits earned at the international university ... if they will, this means that there accreditation is recognized internationally and most certainly in your own country.

When you think of the online learning centre concept, you should be able to quite clearly see the benefits of such a concept in its cost-effectiveness and flexibility. Not only is the option much cheaper for the student, but also for the university or college involved. Less costs are incurred in preparation of coursework materials, as everything is readily available on the internet and does not need to be in print. Moreover, this allows for a more flexible, virtual classroom environment.

There is no substitute for international influence in education. Interactions with different types of people in any educational setting is an education itself. I value my experiences attending an international institution and recommend it to everyone.

I find elearning to be a fantastic resource. I have in the past and are again studying online. Since I'm traveling back and forth between two countries, elearning is the only way for me to be able to attend classes. I have access to course materials and teachers at any time, regardless of where I am located. Great hub on a great subject! Thanks for sharing!

We are now experiencing an increase in the number of older adults returning to the classroom to meet the changes in demand for job skills that can be considered somewhat obsolete. Working and taking care of a home, take up a significant amount of time and energy. However, one of the best ways to complete your college degree at your own time and pace, while working and caring for a family, is to do online classes. But if you are low on cash, the idea of an international elearning university is the way to go. The reason for this is because they are less expensive. Just make sure they are accredited!Voted Up useful.

More than two years of my life have been spent mentoring online college students. In each case now I wish this information would have been available. There is not one of the students I mentored who couldn't have benefited by at least a semester of international learning. Online college is especially beneficial to those who are either real hard of hearing or totally deaf. Translating probably would have been harder though.

Voted up interesting and thanks for SHARING.

Hi Alocsin,

I hadn't really considered that angle, as the US is international to me lol. Anyway, I have studied online via a few different countries now, so I have updated it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Good hub, but can you discuss, perhaps in another hub, the advantages of Americans attending an international elearning university, as opposed to an American one. Frankly, that's what I thought his hub was about. Voting this Up and Interesting. SOCIALLY SHARED.
