Do You Like to Share? Let's Help Everyone Get More Readers!

Something that I often do for good followers and friends is to help them out by sharing my comments (and their hub) with all my followers. This may sound a little odd, but I'm now going to suggest that we all try and do this as a community. The idea is simple, but the effect should be more followers and readers for everyone you help.
Most of us have some good hubs, but all too often they can fall to the bottom of the pile and not be notice. What I am going to suggest is that you help your fellow hubber by sharing one or two of their interesting/best hubs with your followers. To do this you can:
- Comment on their hub and share it (make the comment, return to the home feed screen and then click on the share ; sharing your comment and their hub with your followers.
OR -
- Click the SHARE button at the base of the hub and click to share with your followers on Hubpages, or any other social networks that are shown.
By doing this your will be helping them to get more readers. However, maybe they would like to thank you for this, if only they knew that you had done this for them. Hence, you can either mention it in your comment (Socially Shared). If they have read this hub your can use the line "Thanks for SHARING" which will indicate to them that you have helped to spread their hub. Alternatively, as suggesting in the comments, you could also use "Paying it forward!". If you are lucky, they will feel honored by this effort and do the same for one or two of your good hubs.
If we can all do this for each other and the idea proves popular, then the potential is huge. For example, five people share with their followers, each of which has 200 followers ... suddenly that persons Hub is seen by up to 1000 people. How about 15 people share it with 200-400 followers, it then ends with up to 3000-6000 people seeing their hub ... all because of your original generosity.
This is very similar to hub hoping, but instead of random hubs, you show your followers hubs that you think they will enjoy, and at the same time help out another hubber.
However, as a note, please only pick quality hubs ... we want to support the writers the make an effort here and spread the words of articles that deserve it.
A couple of points points that I would like to add:
1) When you make a comment, make it interesting and relevant and then add the "Thanks for SHARING" or "Socially Shared" after. As other users will see your comment, and you want to attract those readers too! You also do not want to look like or be a spammer! Otherwise you will lose your followers! Your comments say something about you, and show if you have actually read the article.
2) Truthfornow suggested that "I think that also we can share hubs on all our networks like Facebook, Twitter and our blogs as a way to build up even more followers for everyone. I tend to only share my own hubs on my networks, but I think you have a great idea here. More readers will help everyone. Thanks for SHARING." Obviously not everyone will have time for this, but those that do it could, it would make a huge difference to the hubber that you choose the support. Just a tweet can reach 2000+ people sometimes.
So, why not support some fellow hubbers today, especially the new ones ... as we would like them to stick around!

Hi, Since I came here less than two months ago I have practice social sharing. I also created a page on Faceb.. in order to be able not only to post my work but also to post other writers' work. Every time I read and I really think is useful, I make sure to share it in 4 different places. I really do not think some readers do not do the same with my hubs, but I must understand they have other goals. My goal is to spread the word. The other thing that I have noticed and maybe it can help as a suggestion, is about "hops" There are many new writers who really need our help in order to get more readers. The way I see it is that if I cannot make it at least I help others to make it…either way I win.

Ruby H Rose we look for the value in what we share. Understanding what your audience is looking for is important. We personally use our social media for feedback which changed our writing direction.
Pay it forward may come into play but we consider sharing others work a way to improve our own. Positive and negative responses to others hubs give an idea what your audience is looking for. We have been sharing other hubbers work for almost a year now. It is Rarely inside hub pages but as the go to links in blogs. We also share on our social media which give us the information we need to keep improving. I have personally written 25 articles based on information learned this way.

The complaints have started about the sharing. I'm done sharing. I will always vote on a persons hub but I will no longer share because I'm not going to lose followers because they don't like my sharing. There is not much that you can do on Hubpages that there aren't complaints. I don't get the feeds so it doesn't bother me but if I did it maybe it would bother me. I just go to Home to see what feeds there are. It's to bad because I like sharing.

There is nothing new about the concept of social sharing. It has been used since the start of recorded history. It is just becoming a more accepted practice online. Now that Google is using this information in ranking and more people are beginning to understand this it will increase even more. The back links gained by social sharing also give more the opportunity to see what we have written as well as what we share for others.
In my life it started in 1993 while in college. All of the computers were linked and almost everyone shared information with those in the classroom using the computers. In reality it wasn't much different than the groups who waited in the lobby for class to start. We were always talking and sharing a little about our lives. Although what has value to one doesn't necessarily have value to everyone you don't know unless you share.
The saying "a stranger is just someone I have yet to meet" should apply here. Social sharing is often a way to meet like minded people. Every interaction gives us new information and we can choose from this information who will become a friend.
Don't we all write to share? Isn't the idea to pass something we have learned to those who might not know? How do we know what has value to another if we don't share with them?
Social sharing gives everyone a larger audience.

This is a great idea. Someone that is following me did this because we had a similar topic that we were writing about. I noticed that the traffic to that hub did increase too. I plan to try to do this for my followers as well, because even if it doesn't increase google traffic, it will at least increase exposure to other hubbers! Thanks for the article!

Great Concept and one that works very well for all. Other forms of sharing are including links on your Hubs to other Hubbers that have similar topics. Sharing button works great but I like to kill two birds with one stone buy using the link to this page located at the very bottom of the page. You can pick your referrer then highlight the link and copy. Then for example using the Google Plus 1 page, paste it as a link and the Hubbers picture and short excerpt pops up, then hit share. Now you have a link to your fellow Hubber plus if someone clicks and signs-up to Hubpages you get credit for it. Plus you get exposure via your profile on Google. The same practice can be done just about anywhere. It is a Win Win for everyone. Thanks again.

The funny thing is I been sharing like a lunatic, since I got here, and I receive nice numbers, but I would love to see more people comment, so maybe we can get another one of these encouraging hubs written about leaving insightful comments for everyone.
I think there's a great deal of people here who don't care to comment, because they not here to read, maybe here just to make money, but oh well. Sharing and being honest isn't for everyone I guess, but I'm a realest myself, and love reading other peoples stuff.
I'm not here for stats alone, I want to meet real people, and get to know what they have to offer in their written expressions, and that's why I share, and not just for the sake of gaining more viewers.
This sharing thing is only good in my opinion if people truly mean it, because the system frowns upon in-genuine means of using Hubpages.
I love the concept, but want people to realize, that whats more important is to maintain the true spirit of the hubpages community. I learned a great deal here in these few 5 months, and don't want to see it all go to waste just trying to get a fast buck, people working earnestly, produce far better products. So just think about the whole sharing thing a bit please, because we need real communications amongst one another.
Integrity is a huge part of the equation of it all, Good Luck! to all in this sharing frenzy of sorts & keep hubbing to help the world if at all possible, that's my true purpose here. Voted Up, Up, & Away

Pleased to hear that it is working for you too. I've had a couple of people pop back and say they have had a really positive impact from it. I'll soon be releasing a hub that looks at the traffic and follower impact of sharers. I was surprised to find it really does impact search engine traffic (though it would, but have been pleased with the results).

For us this concept is working and working well. Do you realize you are teaching the most important thing all internet marketers have to do to make it in business. Sharing your own work and the pertinent work of others draws people to you which is what has to happen to succeed in internet marketing.
Sorry Sofia, I didn't realise your comment was not showing (you only left it 15 hourse ago and I replied on the homepage before turning off my computer for the night), you only waited 2 hours before complaining that it wasn't shown. I set comments to show but to also need aproval, as I want to be able to visit those that comment and I need to keep track. I have been catching up with comments, as dailly I have had around 30+ comments for the last couple of weeks.
It is of course entirely up to you if you choose to share hubs. You are an established hubber with hundreds of hubs and so have a lot of search engine traffic alkready. However, for new hubbers, SHARING really helps to get traffic to them and as a lot of emphesis with search engines is on the social popularity now, I would think that it helps with traffic after a while. Every comment you leave is a backlink to your profile, and every time you tweet you are leaving a link too. For myself, it has lead to increased traffic from Hubpages and search engines, with an increase in earnings too. But, for you it probably isn't necersary as you get so much traffic already, you must be earning very well.
Brett, I don't like the fact that you don't allow comments that are valid. Getting more hub traffic does absolutely nothing that I can see to boost income as hub readers are not allowed to click on ads. Just for one article, this month, I was getting hit between 5000 and 10000 times per day through search engine traffic. If sharing will increase google traffic, then, yes, it's worthwhile. If not, there's no point. And I honestly can't see it. What one shares doesn't go on to one's profile page. And readers from search engines go on to the profile page, not onto one's home page. You also don't have a contact button, so people can't contact you.

I too focus on getting search engine traffic while writing hubs, but really enjoy the community here as well. Since I've been sharing A LOT, I've noticed an increase in both local and search engine traffic, and also earnings. I guess the search engines pick up on people linking to you, your visitors and also on your comments (which of course link back to you profile).
I'll be writing a review of the effect soon, but so far I've noticed a big increase in all areas ... even on Twitter.
Brett, I like the idea of sharing, and have being doing so. That said, my search engine traffic is generally about 98% and my hubpage traffic is about 2%. As it's not hubpage traffic that generates income, I focus on getting search engine traffic. Would you say that sharing in this way impacts search engine traffic?

I found your hub through a link from JS Mathews hub "Why Do I Keep Seeing "Thanks for SHARING" in Many Comments On Hubs Lately?" so I thought I would read it. It is thought prevoking for one new to hub pages. I have done some of the Hopping but never considered the sharing for some of these hubs. I'm still trying to figure my way around. I will keep this in mind as I read more hubs that catch my attention.
I just noticed you sharing hubs a few days ago, and checked out two I thought would be interesting. They were, and I had reason to link to one of them from an existing hub. I mentioned in both comments to the authors how I had landed there because you'd shared their links, which I believe can further promote reciprocity.
One of those authors followed my hubs, in turn. Thanks!

Good idea. In fact, I have seen that successfully writing in Hubpages is all about interacting with other Hubbers, reading their hubs, commenting, giving feedback and as you have suggested in this Hub, sharing, all of which will end up getting traffic back to yours. I have shared through Facebook but never through Hubpages; I’ll definitely do it when I come across an excellent and interesting Hub.

I'm sorry that I don't have time to reply to each person individually, but I will get around to visiting you and continuing the SHARING.
I will try to adress any questions though. Hence, regarding will followers drop you, my experience has been that I have gained far more followers! I think if you share your own stories too much, then you will be dropped, but not for sharing the interesting stories of others.

This is really a good idea. If you learn something really good from someone, you would want others to learn about it, too. Then it's best to share it with others and the sharing options are easy enough to use. Voted up for sharing these idea with every one else.
One question if you share to much with your followers will they get tired of your sharing and drop you?

@Jools99, you have to share other hubs and comment for a while, but at least a few will do the same for you and traffic will increase. Try the phrase, 'socially shared' or 'sharing with my followers'. Of course, many who have commented here are willing to SHARE!
When we joined hub pages we became part of a community. Sharing both by adding links to our hubs and on our social networks is good for everyone. Those like us who have done searches realize this.
At one point in time we found about 100 shared links. From comments made and links in our hubs. These were all under our writing nickname. We are now finding them in three places and know they can be found by keywords also. Remember what we are all looking for is search engine traffic and backlinks. Social sharing is just an added icing on the cake so to speak.
We are actually getting title tuner suggestions to add our writing nickname to the hub title.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Although grammar is something you learn, if you have MS Word, you can turn on a grammar checker ... it may help you to spot where the problems are and will often suggest solutions. It isn't perfect, but it is helpful. I hope you will come back to join us soon.

We use caring and sharing as part of our business all the time. This hub has been shared with our business contacts through twitter.
We are finding more people all the time who are members of our business network all the time who are hubbers also. My hubs as well as hubs of interest have been used as the links in blogs and sent to about every social network on the internet.
Even though time is at a premium for us (our corporation) we still take time to share. Our customers want value, it takes time to find. If we don't give them things of value they will be looking elsewhere. Some hubs fill this need. The majority of people here too are great.
Caring and sharing is how internet marketing companies bring qualified visitors to them. We have been inviting people to the business platform we use for a while now to try to increase value for both Hub pages and this social business network.
I am glad that you were able to reword some parts of this hub to get this important idea across to others. I for one think this is a brilliant idea. It truly is what community is all about. Whenever I come across a hub I particularly like, I will tweet it or I will post it on facebook... but I hardly ever told the person I was doing this. I will definately start doing this.

I have re-written it from a social viewpoint now, so hopefully the SHARING is back to stay! It certainly seems to of helped many people get more readers :-) ... but, only because of all your support!

This sharing really does make perfect sense. We all share hubs occasionally but a more coordinated approach is definitely more practical and business like.
I have already shared this hub so I won't share it again for a while.
I would be interested to know if other hubbers have a view on the frequency of sharing we could aim for? We don't want to fall foul of the Goog!
This is truly a great idea. I have been doing this as well, but it is nice to have it done in such a way that you know it will be reciprocated. And you have said it so well, hubpages is a great place where everyone is so good about helping each other and working together.

I think this is a very interesting idea. This could definitely fall into the category of networking. Sharing each others hubs is courteous and potentially profitable.

Brett, this was a great idea. When hubbers take the time to share someone else's hub, I ended up reading hubs that I never would have found otherwise if someone else hadn't shared it.
Since this hub received so much hub luv, I checked out some of your other hubs and shared one with my followers.
I'm trying to make it a point to share at least one hub from someone else each day:)

This is such a great idea! Obviously this method is proving to be useful for driving more traffic to hubs. I am concerned, though, that if this gets to be too successful, the hub author will not be able to keep up with the reading, commenting on, and sharing of all those hubs. I guess we will see if you end up getting overwhelmed with the responses to this particular hub. Thanks for SHARING!
This is a good reminder that our writing (and hard work) is only as strong as our readership...which is why it's important to get noticed. But you can only get noticed if your work is out there.
Of course, sharing your own work is tricky. I love getting new followers I didn't personally recruit, it means others spontaneously enjoyed my work. Thanks for SHARING, I'll pass the message along along with other work I find worthy of sharing :-)

Thank you for this tremendous way to help each other. Without knowing this hub existed, I used this for one of our other Hubbers because I thought her article was just so cool. I shared her hub on my facebook account trying to give her subject matter and authorship a little boost. I learned something about sharing on hub pages with this article so I can now share my heart as well as the hearts of those writers who resonate with me.
There is so much to say but I think I'll leave that to you and to those who can articulate this much better than me. All I can say is;

Because I spend so much time writing, I don't have a lot of time to "browse" Hubpages, per se, and any new authors I discover always comes from the feeds; so I love this idea! Not to mention that it's hubbers helping hubbers help themselves. :)

What an innovative way to drive traffic to your hub. Its a great way to gain readership. I hope people do not abuse this and actually read the full hub. For instance, for one of my hubs I noticed that someone had written a comment. I was happy to see the feedback; although not much was written in reflection of the hub content specifically. They were still on topic and I appreciated the comment. However, I noticed almost immediately that the number of views was still zero as I had posted a minute ago. I liked the comment; but hoped they had actually read the hub. After that many read and shared their comments; i found these comments more rewarding as a writer. I would have no qualms about sharing a hub that my followers would enjoy. For instance, most of my hubs are about humanity, relationships and compassion. If its not directly about those topics then at least the driving force would be about that. My intention is to reach out and offer something valuable to people. I like writing from my heart. Ofcourse, I think randomly sharing hubs would be disloyal to our followers. Its important that they see that you were genuine. Ofcourse, every hub you share does not have to hit the mark perfectly. Atleast, if your hubs and profile bio reflect compassion; then by all means do not promote hub that states that we should be self centered. However, unless its a humorous account of how not to be. THANKS for Sharing.

totally great idea. i already share hubs that really touch me to my networks (btw, i only have to share to my twitter and it gets automatically shared on facebook to, so in order not to have repeats on my facebook i only share to twitter). you have a new follower =)....thanks for SHARING!

I been writing "Thanks for sharing", after commenting for 5 months now, and I only do it when I mean it. I like traffic, but I only give credit where its due, because not every hub is worthy of such crediting.
There's many hubs I found that are very low standard, and quite frankly need dis-crediting, and so I don't let them know such, instead I try to help them out of the depths of no mans ville, where all the lowest hubs reside, mostly the newest hubbers.
I think we need to help them out of that hub graveyard, why not view more of the lower hubs, and get those authors into writing better ones, so that a balance can be achieved here possibly, than they can all get more active as well. Just a thought, because that's what I do most of the time here, I try to help the lowest ranked hubbers out, as well as those in the middle, and the top.
I love the Idea, but I'll rather earn my keep here, because begging for traffic isn't the way for me, I'm sincere in every way, and will remain as such, but enjoy your new found technique, that's actually an old one lol.

I think this is a great idea to help people find new writers to follow, read some hubs that they might not normally read and get some new readers too. Community is one of the benefits of writing for a site like HubPages - it's nice when we can help each other out. Thanks for sharing!

Update is absolutely brilliant. I have had a large increase in traffic, but for me that means a 24 hour total of 60 haha.With those sort of figures I need all the love I can get.

Yes, sharing the older hubs of other hubbers is a great idea. However, whatever hub is shared can bring you completely new readers and followers that will browse your hubs, so we should all see an increase in traffic.

Thanks for organizing us. I had been doing this for new Hubbers to help them get started and for some of the seasoned Hubbers when I came across a great Hub that somehow got lost in the shuffle. I think this will help all of us and I like what Crazy Gata said, "Pay it Forward." :)

Just saw you were having issues. If the home feed 'stalls' (as it does from time to time), use the 'Share' button above where you vote for the hub, this will then give you an option to share that hub and your comment with your followers. Also, you may want to read the UPDATES, some more ideas!
Most of the comments I make are not ending up in my Home feed, so I can't share them. Is there an issue here I need to fix?
Please read latest updates ... some new ideas! Oh, and please come back to vote once you have tried this for a day or two.

I guess I always assumed that your followers saw in their feed when you commented on something whether you shared it or not. I guess the ones I see commenting on other people's hubs were actually sharing it the whole time. I am definately going to try this. Alot of times I have been known to throw a hub on my facebook page or twitter if I think it is a great idea. I want those people who did a good job to really be recognized for their efforts. I do understand it is difficult to break into an online community and I think this is a great way to do it! Thanks for SHARING! :)

This is a great idea. Just read your update. I have read this hub in it's entirety and I truly think it's a great idea. Most of my hubs are on home schooling or an eclectic selection of subjects, but I love to read on all different subjects and issues.

I started doing this for new hubbers or hubbers that I read and liked but weren't getting traffic to the hubs. I never thought about writing about it. I think it does help to get traffic to hubbers that have just started out. Thank you for Sharing
